Welcome To World-Class Catering
Marco Barrila, born and bred in Messina, Sicily was impressed at an early age by the vast range of regional food dishes. He found his love of cooking at age 13 working in his grandmother’s trattoria “La Caraffa” that dates back to the 1800’s. Before the age of 18, he apprenticed at local butchers and bakeries. Later he enrolled at the Escuola Alberghiera to broaden his experience of international cuisine and to the technical methods of cooking. He remained in Italy until age 24 and then moved to New York City to work in various culinary outlets such as the Paramount Hotel and Carmines before taking over as Executive Chef at Fiorello’s Lincoln Center. Here Marco made a name for himself. In his second year, he was nominated as one of New York City’s Top 40 Chefs alongside chefs Danielle Boulud and Marcus Samuelsson.
The next restaurant would be his own mom and pop Italian bistro on Bleeker Street. With finger licking fresh pasta plates and live cooking performances, it is easy to see now why the traffic stopped when he opened NOI. It is hard to tell how much the gift of cooking figures into his success, his charm also serves him very well. At NOI Marco earned 4 stars by the NY Times Travel Guide among many other awards. He thought creating a restaurant like this would fulfill his story. However, after the events of 9/11, he was forced to close his bistro and to continue to explore.
Abandoning the city for a weekend holiday trip to the Hamptons, Marco fell in love with the landscape that was similar to his native Sicily. He was quickly offered a new haven with a hotel group and began discovering the astonishing new world of catering and events. He soon began sharing his great dishes with the Hamptons elite covering countless multi-media events. Later recruited by Robbins Wolffe Eventeurs as their star executive chef, Barrila cooked for thousands of people during a season of twenty four-caret gold line up of events, including the Ross School Concert Series.
After a ritual change of seasons in the Hamptons, Barrila launched Insatiable EATS, a niche catering company serving sought after international cuisine. Now after five years of success and with a coveted client list, Insatiable EATS has become known as one of the most distinguished and exclusive catering and event companies in the Hamptons. Marco and his creative kitchen team perform for some of the most high profile private parties and annual events on the East End, each distinctly itself, yet happily unified in a highly recognized atmosphere. Insatiable EATS continues to evolve and has expanded with new branches in New York City.
Barrila has carved a spot for himself on the culinary stage. He was spotlighted while serving on the Board of Jurors for the French Culinary Institute in New York City. He has performed alongside acclaimed chefs like Alain Ducasse and Jeffrey Zaccharian. Additionally, he has been culinary advisor to local restaurants helping to elevate the cuisine on the East End to a new level. The chef has garnered a host of other accolades over the years performing as Executive Chef for the highly recognized events including the 2003 Italian Marine Dinner by the Columbus Day Parade; 2003 Lombardi Event with Lamborghini with Grand Marshall Mario Andretti; 2004 Taste of Greenwich House of Music/ Benefit Event; 2005 Meet the Chef sponsored by Greenwich Village; 2006 Southampton Hospital Annual Holiday; 2007 Social Ross Concert Series; 2008 Christopher Reeves Foundation hosted by Kim Cattrall; 2008 Heather on Earth Fundraiser; 2009 Southampton Day Care Annual Benefit; 2009 Hampton Classic Exclusive Entry; 2010 Breast Cancer Southampton Hospital; 2010 Sag Harbor Save the Whaling House Benefit; 2011 Cheetah Outreach; 2011-12 Bridgehampton Polo Exclusive Entry; 2012 Hamptons Food & Wine Festival; 2012 Last Chance Animal Rescue; 2013 Boy Scouts of America Annual Awards Ceremony; 2014 Citizens 4 Humanity Charity Ball; 2015 ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) Annual Designer Showcase Event.
